BT Cellnet and Genie Implement SEVEN'S Mobile Software Architecture With the Launch of Connected

SEVEN Enables BT Cellnet to Offer Wireless Data Access Service to Great Britain's Small and Medium Enterprises

London, England and Redwood City, Calif. - June 11, 2001 - SEVEN today announced that BT Cellnet and Genie, BT's mobile internet business and one of Europe's leading mobile internet portals, are using SEVEN's mobile software architecture to launch BT Cellnet's Connected. Built and powered by Genie, Connected is a comprehensive mobile internet portal and suite of services for small and medium sized enterprise customers in the UK. Available immediately, Connected is a demonstration by Genie of its strategic initiative to serve the business ASP market.

Using components of SEVEN's carrier-grade mobile software architecture -- including web-based provisioning and customer management software -- Connected offers UK mobile workers secure access to email, voicemail and fax messages via a single mailbox on their mobile internet phone, PC or PDA. Connected's customizable features, from any location in the UK, include the ability to listen to email, pick up voicemail messages and receive alerts whenever an email, voicemail or fax has arrived. In addition, users are able to remain current on the latest worldwide business and government news, set reminders regarding forthcoming deadlines, search for specific company information, and download individual documents, all with their current email address via their mobile device or PC. From a business perspective, Connected provides small and medium sized enterprises the tools necessary to capitalize on and increase mobile productivity without installing additional, costly software.

BT Cellnet is the first wireless operator to launch a comprehensive enterprise offering. After joining forces with SEVEN in February 2001, together the companies were able to deploy the new enterprise offering in less than 100 days. In addition to utilizing SEVEN's software, BT Cellnet's customer care, indirect sales and retail channels will be using SEVEN's web-based provisioning and customer management solution to contact enterprise customers at the point of sale and manage customer care. With SEVEN software, mobile operators such as BT Cellnet are likely to increase revenue opportunities, build long-term customer loyalty, simplify enterprise adoption of mobile applications, and enhance the user experience.

"We chose SEVEN as a core technology partner for Connected because their mobile software enables our enterprise customers to leverage their existing IT investments in applications and network infrastructures - ultimately saving our customers both time and money," said BT Genie president, Kent Thexton. "A key barrier to adoption of mobile data services by small and medium enterprises is the high cost and complex installation requirements. With zero footprint implementation on the enterprise side, SEVEN helps us overcome this roadblock."

"SEVEN's solution is designed to help BT Cellnet extend its service offering to the enterprise, addressing a targeted and significant segment of the mobile industry," said Tim Sefton, BT Cellnet's GM, SME Sector, Sales & Marketing. "Small and medium enterprises can tailor the Connected features in order to provide employees with mobile access to select online information, email, voicemail and fax messages from virtually any device."

A recent survey from the leading industry analyst firm Yankee Group, "Targeting SMEs with Mobile Services, March 2001," indicates that only 20% of European SMEs presently use mobile data services and the lack of adoption represents a significant opportunity for operators.

"SEVEN helps BT Cellnet tap the burgeoning small and medium enterprise market," said SEVEN founder and president Bill Nguyen. "After joining forces with Genie and Cellnet earlier this year, SEVEN has quickly and efficiently delivered and deployed a viable, zero-footprint mobile solution. Together we were able to create new revenue streams for BT customers while helping them build strong customer loyalty."
