Helsinki, Finland - (18 April 2002) - The leading Swiss operator Swisscom Mobile will offer its enterprise customers a mobile office solution that enables access to company's own email and PIM system with WAP phones, PDA devices, SMSs and through a WWW interface. The solution is developed by Smartner Information Systems Ltd which is the leading provider of operator-hosted mobile business services. The solution operates in both GSM and GPRS networks.
The Swisscom Mobile service enables mobile access to enterprises' existing email, calendar, tasks, contacts and group messaging. Using GSM or GPRS phones, PDA devices or a WWW interface, the user can connect to Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino as well as any POP/IMAP email system.
"Swisscom Mobile intends to deliver the solution with Smartner because we believe that it can really add value to Swisscom Mobile's GPRS network," says Jurg Hurter, Head of Swisscom's Mobile Solutions unit. The Smartner solution was already introduced at the Swisscom Mobile stand at Internet Expo 2002 in Zurich.
The solution is offered to enterprises as a service hosted by Swisscom Mobile. "Using Swisscom's extensive knowledge of mobile technology and networks, enterprises can easily and securely get a mobile office access solution without complex system integration work. As Swisscom takes care of the service maintenance and development, the solution suits even small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)," says Jussi Raisanen, Smartner's Director of Business Development.
