SEVEN Expands System SEVEN Product Line To Include Server-Based Mobile Email Solution

SEVEN Server Edition First Available From Sprint In North America

Las Vegas, NV (October 21, 2003) - SEVEN today announced the launch of SEVEN Server Edition, a new, cost-effective behind-the-firewall mobile email solution for businesses. With SEVEN Server Edition, businesses can easily deploy secure, real-time access to corporate data and applications across their device of choice, at nearly 70% savings over competitive solutions (calculation below). SEVEN Server Edition is an extension of the company's award-winning System SEVEN product line, and will be first available in North America from Sprint as a deployment option available as part of PCS Business Connection Enterprise Edition.

An Alternative to "One Size Fits All"
System SEVEN is the industry's most comprehensive mobile data solution, offering businesses and individuals the greatest flexibility in deploying a mobile email solution. Sold via operators worldwide, System SEVEN works across the complete spectrum of WAN and LAN network technologies, including CDMA, GSM/GPRS, WiFi, Bluetooth, and Ethernet. System SEVEN supports the widest selection of devices in the industry, including: J2ME, Brew, and browser-enabled mobile phones; PalmOS, Pocket PC, Microsoft Smartphone 2003 and Symbian smartphones; PalmOS and Pocket PC PDAs; and Internet-enabled PCs.

System SEVEN now offers three deployment models:

  • Server Edition, an IT-managed, network-integrated behind-the-firewall service;
  • Enterprise Edition, an IT-managed, operator-hosted, zero-footprint service;
  • Personal Edition, an individually managed, network-integrated personal access service.

First-to-Market with SEVEN Server Edition
Sprint is the first operator in North America to deploy SEVEN Server Edition. Sprint currently offers PCS Business Connection Enterprise Edition Network Solution and PCS Business Connection Personal Edition, award-winning mobile email services based on SEVEN technology. The server-based solution for PCS Business Connection Enterprise Edition will be available later this quarter through the Sprint direct business sales force.

"Many of our business customers ask for a behind-the-firewall solution, but they don't want to make a huge capital investment," said Phil Bowman, vice president, business marketing, PCS Division of Sprint. "PCS Business Connection Enterprise Edition Server Solution is a best-in-class solution that provides a low cost, secure, powerful service to mobilize employees. The time has arrived for wireless email to move beyond the reaches of top executives and into the hands of a growing number of mobile workers that need a simple way to stay connected and be more effective while away from the office."

Quick to Deploy, Easy to Manage
SEVEN Server Edition was designed to dramatically simplify deploying a mobile data strategy within an organization. SEVEN Server Edition is easy for IT professionals to install and manage; the lightweight server is deployed within the enterprise, requiring no firewall reconfiguration. As a network-based service, no desktop PC deployment is required, and all client upgrades are provided over-the-air. SEVEN Server Edition integrates with pre-existing Windows management tools, making user provisioning and routine administrative tasks quick and easy.

Easy To Use
SEVEN Server Edition is easy to use, requiring no desktop software or cradle synchronization. Working across the broadest set of mobile devices, all information is delivered in real time, including Microsoft Exchange email, calendar, contacts, corporate directories and documents. Support for Lotus Domino and Internet/ISP mail is coming soon. SEVEN Server Edition's real-time architecture is far superior to the store and forward method, which is limited to loosely-coupled data replication and has inherent security risks as corporate data is transferred to and stored at third party servers along the delivery path.

Lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
SEVEN Server Edition is deployed in mobile operator networks, by operators such as Sprint. Device integration and application rendering are managed at the operator network level, thereby reducing an enterprise's deployment time and support costs. SEVEN Server Edition is the most cost effective mobile email solution available, and can deliver up to nearly 70% lower TCO than competitive offerings that typically cost over $1,000/user/year.

Meets the Most Demanding Security Requirements
SEVEN Server Edition is the most secure mobile email solution, empowering IT departments with maximum control of data both inside and outside the enterprise. Security features include end-to-end encryption, remote removal of data from mobile devices, and the extension of enterprise security policy to the mobile device. Connections are protected using both 128-bit AES encryption -- the U.S government FIPS-certified replacement for Triple DES -- and digital signature algorithms to satisfy the most demanding enterprise security requirements. SEVEN Server Edition integrates with an enterprise's existing infrastructure to automatically extend most security policies such as account and password policies to mobile devices.

"With the introduction of SEVEN Server Edition, businesses and individuals can now choose the solution that is best suited for their style, needs and wallet," said Bill Nguyen, founder and president of SEVEN. "SEVEN Server Edition was a natural evolution of our product line. We listened closely to what our customers were saying; people demand security and flexibility at a reasonable cost. We are the only company to meet these needs."
