Frost & Sullivan Recognizes SEVEN for Market Dominance, Customer Success, Product Innovation and Entrepreneurial Spirit
Redwood City, Calif. (January 16, 2002) - SEVEN, a leader in mobile data communications software, announced today that analyst firm Frost & Sullivan has recognized the company with the 2002 "Entrepreneurial Company of the Year" award for the Mobile Communications industry. Further validating SEVEN's market leadership, the award was presented to SEVEN yesterday at Frost & Sullivan's Excellence in Information and Communication Technology Awards Banquet in Scottsdale, Arizona.
The Frost & Sullivan Entrepreneurial Company of the Year award is bestowed upon the private company that has demonstrated superior entrepreneurial ability in their respective industry. The awards are based on Frost & Sullivan's primary research with mobile communications top vendors, service providers and end users. The winning companies are critically judged on product uniqueness, strength of customer relationships, market penetration, strategy execution, marketing and competitive excellence.
SEVEN clearly led the mobile communications market in 2002. Success included tier-one mobile operator customer wins, unique System SEVEN product innovation, and market adoption. Sprint PCS and Cingular Wireless deployed new System SEVEN-enabled data services (PCS Business Connection and Cingular Xpress Mail), in addition to SEVEN engaging in numerous pre-production deployments with tier one operators worldwide. Both SEVEN and Sprint PCS Business Connection received technology innovation awards, and SEVEN released enhanced product functionality including smart device capability, offline access, over-the-air synchronization, and internationalization and localization for the European and Asia Pacific regions. Furthermore, the company saw an aggressive System SEVEN adoption rate.
"2002 was a phenomenal year for SEVEN, and we're thrilled to see Frost & Sullivan affirm our leading position in the mobile communications arena," said President & CEO Mark Biestman. "We are well positioned to grow the mobile data services industry in 2003, and look forward to becoming the market share leader in 2003."
SEVEN's product innovation and leadership, unique go-to-market strategy, network-centric model and tier-one customer base are key differentiators contributing to the company's receipt of the award. SEVEN makes it simple for mobile operators to offer subscribers secure, real-time access to email and corporate applications via any mobile device. SEVEN offers two ways for operators to address the market: System SEVEN Personal Edition for individuals or workgroups, and System SEVEN Enterprise Edition for enabling entire companies. Both services reside in the operator network, allowing subscribers to take advantage of the efficiencies and attributes of the network, and eliminating the need for additional hardware installation at the enterprise.
