Orange Office Freedom Provides Businesses Secure, Cost-Effective, Easy-to-Use Mobile Data Access
Redwood City, Calif. and London, England (February 13, 2003) - SEVEN, a leader in mobile communications, announced today that Orange, one of the UK's leading mobile communication companies, is using their award-winning mobile data services platform, System SEVEN, to launch a new email service called Office Freedom. Available today and enabled by System SEVEN, Office Freedom enables businesses of all sizes to easily provision their employees with secure, real-time mobile access to corporate data via their Orange mobile phone, wirelessly enabled PDA or PC. System SEVEN is deployed by tier one mobile operators in Europe, the United States and Asia.
"SEVEN is honored to work with Orange UK to deploy Office Freedom to the European business market," said Bill Nguyen, founder and president of SEVEN. "Office Freedom is an easy and affordable way for a business to deploy mobile data services, and we are deeply committed to working with Orange UK to drive widespread user adoption."
System SEVEN gives Office Freedom users anytime, anywhere access to Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Domino email, calendar, personal contacts, corporate directories and tasks. The data is accessed in real time, freeing the user from their desktop and eliminating the need for cradle synchronizations. Additional end user features include SMS notifications and attachment viewing.
Office Freedom is a network-based service, providing Orange UK with a unique and differentiated way to offer mobile data services to their business customers. The service is future proof, eliminating concerns about evolving standards, changing network protocols and new device platforms, while providing businesses excellent value, preserving IT resources, and offering the lowest total cost of ownership. Office Freedom is device agnostic - the service is available on multiple mobile devices and PDA's, eliminating the need for dedicated devices, and works across network bearers, including GPRS, GSM and HSCSD. There is no hardware to purchase, install or maintain, and the service is easy to provision, manage, personalize and use. Office Freedom is suitable for businesses of all sizes, and can be deployed to entire organizations or smaller work groups (For pricing information, please see http://www.orange.co.uk/business).
ALcontrol, one of Europe's leading analytical laboratories, has been trialing Office Freedom. They have found Office Freedom allows job allocations and information updates to be received by colleagues in the field in real-time. Workers can now use the time between jobs to feed information back to headquarters, saving time and reducing costs. ALcontrol anticipate implementing Office Freedom across the company (Further information and photography available on request).
"SEVEN's strong platform and experience in mobile email solutions made them the clear partner with whom to develop Office Freedom," said Cynthia Gordon, marketing director, Orange Business Solutions. "Orange Office Freedom is the simplest, most cost effective and easiest to implement way of accessing corporate data on the market. Its launch plays a critical role in Orange's vision of mobilising enterprises."
SEVEN has received numerous awards for the company's patent-pending mobile data services platform, including the Frost & Sullivan Market Engineering Award for Technology Innovation. Sprint PCS, Cingular Wireless and numerous additional operators worldwide are currently using System SEVEN.
