SEVEN Expands Global Footprint to Singapore, Australia and The Philippines
Singapore; Sydney, Australia; Manila, Philippines; and Redwood City, Calif. (June 11, 2003) - Leading mobile data services company SEVEN announced today that Singapore Telecommunications Limited ("SingTel") is utilizing the company's System SEVEN technology to launch MobileMail (http://home.singtel.com/news_centre/news_releases/2003_06_11.asp), a new mobile email service for business users in Asia Pacific. Available today, MobileMail offers subscribers secure, real-time access to their corporate email, PIM information and documents from any mobile device, and will initially be available from the SingTel Group, namely SingTel (Singapore, www.singtel.com), SingTel Optus (Australia, www.optus.com.au) and its regional mobile associate, Globe Telecom (Philippines, www.globe.com.ph). The SingTel Group is Asia Pacific's largest multi-market mobile operator, with over 35 million subscribers.
This announcement significantly expands SEVEN's global footprint to one of the most advanced data communications markets in the world. In 2002, the SingTel Group was the first operator outside of Japan to complete a 3G packet data call and is on schedule to roll out its 3G network by early 2004. SingTel, Globe and Optus also offer advanced data devices in the region, including the XDA, Treo and Tungsten W. Since 1998, SingTel has been named "The Best Asia Telecom Operator" (1998-2002 Telecom Asia's Readers' Choice Survey). SingTel joins tier-one mobile operators across the world to deploy SEVEN-enabled services; additional operators include Cingular Wireless, O2, Orange and Sprint PCS.
Mr. Andrew Buay, SingTel's Vice-President (Consumer Marketing) said: "As a multi-market operator, we can clearly see a growing demand for business data services across the various regional markets. SingTel is pleased to be the first in the region to offer this wireless email solution to our customers. MobileMail is a highly secure wireless platform developed by SEVEN and we have made the service very affordable for both individuals and corporates. Unlike most other solutions in the market, the service offers device flexibility and widens the base of customers who can potentially benefit from it."
System SEVEN provides business users with secure, real-time access to Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Domino, iMAP and POP email, calendar, personal and corporate contacts, tasks and documents. The software enables mobile subscribers to stay connected to their critical business and personal information while on the go, whether out of the office, at home, on mass transit, or simply waiting for a meeting to begin. System SEVEN offers the lowest total cost of ownership solution available today; there is no hardware to install and maintain, making it simple to deploy and easy to manage, and there is no need to purchase an expensive, dedicated data-device such as a pager. The software across a wide range of mobile devices, including phones, PDAs and smart devices, as well as any web browser making it the most flexible solution in the market.
"The SingTel Group is a great partner with a very sophisticated and large subscriber base throughout Asia Pacific, and we are pleased to deliver our software to such a promising and leading market," said Bill Nguyen, founder and president of SEVEN. "SEVEN is about making it easy for subscribers to stay connected to critical information while on the go. We look forward to working closely with SingTel, Optus and Globe to make this happen."
