Redwood City, Calif. (May 24, 2004) - SEVEN Networks, Inc. announced today that the company has appointed two new executives - Jeff Damir as vice president of business development, and Jason Guesman as vice president of carrier marketing and usability. Formerly an Openwave Systems executive, Damir will be responsible for driving SEVEN's strategic alliances, focusing on partnerships with handset manufacturers worldwide. Formerly a Sprint executive, Guesman will be responsible for subscriber adoption of SEVEN's mobile email solutions. He will work with mobile operators worldwide to help guide sales and marketing strategies. In related news, SEVEN also announced today that Thomas Hoster, formerly of @Road, has joined the company as chief financial officer.
Damir was the vice president, client products for Openwave Systems, where he was responsible for worldwide client product sales, business development and strategy. At Openwave, he successfully licensed the company's technology to all of the top-20 handset manufacturers, which resulted in over 300 million handsets shipping with Openwave's microbrowser software. During his five-year tenure, Openwave's annual client group revenue grew to exceed $30 million, and the company became the global marketshare leader in microbrowser software for mobile phones. In addition to Openwave, Damir held senior positions with Cometa Networks, AT&T Wireless, GTE Government Systems and Hughes Aircraft.
Guesman came to SEVEN from Sprint, where he was the senior director of business development for the Sprint Business Solutions organization. During his six-year tenure at Sprint, Guesman also held roles as the director of enterprise product marketing and director of business marketing for the Sprint PCS organization. A veteran of the 2G and 3G wireless data launches, Guesman helped drive Sprint to a leading position in the data services market through the development, launch and marketing of new products and services, including push-to-talk, an industry-leading portfolio of smart devices, and wireless email and messaging solutions. Prior to Sprint he worked for the Federal Communications Commission in the areas of broadband communication, cable television and wireless spectrum auctions.
"These key hires further demonstrate SEVEN's commitment to enabling mobile email on a multitude of devices while providing a compelling end-user experience," said Bill Nguyen, chairman, founder and co-CEO of SEVEN. "With Jeff's strategic leadership and relationships with handset manufacturers, and Jason's experience rolling out data services at a leading North American mobile operator, we are positioned to help our operator customers achieve their subscriber adoption objectives."
