SEVEN Receives Frost & Sullivan 2004 Award for Mobile Office Innovative Service Model of the Year

Redwood City, Calif. (September 22, 2004) - Frost & Sullivan recognized SEVEN with its 2004 Mobile Office Innovative Service Model of the Year Award. This Award is presented each year to the company in the mobile communications industry that has demonstrated excellence in developing a superior service model, and has successfully targeted worldwide markets by effectively utilizing key distribution channels. SEVEN was acknowledged for its simple and cost-effective operator-centric service model, which enables mobile operators to provide enterprise customers with easy-to-use, secure, real-time wireless access to email and corporate applications via a broad range of mobile data devices.

In four years, SEVEN has commercially deployed services with nine of the top twenty mobile operators worldwide. SEVEN is the only company in the mobile email space to serve the world's four most important data markets (Europe, North America, Japan and Asia Pacific.) SEVEN partners with O2 and Orange in Europe, Cingular Wireless and Sprint in North America, NTT DoCoMo and KDDI Corp. in Japan and SingTel, Globe Telecom and Optus in Asia Pacific.

"SEVEN has successfully leveraged partnerships with global tier-one mobile operators to provide a compelling mobile office solution to businesses and consumers," notes Brent Iadarola, industry analyst at Frost & Sullivan. "With SEVEN's operator-centric model, enterprise and consumer customers experience the benefits of network integration which makes SEVEN powered services affordable and easy to deploy, provision and manage."

To provide businesses and consumers with simple and flexible mobile data options, SEVEN's software was built as an integral component to mobile operator networks. SEVEN offers organizations of all sizes three deployment models:

  • Server Edition: an IT-managed, behind-the-firewall service for businesses
  • Enterprise Edition: an IT-managed, operator-hosted, zero-footprint service for businesses
  • Personal Edition: a self-provisioned, self-managed service for consumers

According to Frost and Sullivan, IT decision makers have identified complexity, cost and security as barriers to mobile data adoption and need a solution to overcome their concerns. Through operator network integration, SEVEN-powered services address these enterprise requirements:

  • Simple Deployment, Ease of Management: SEVEN is designed to dramatically simplify deploying a mobile data strategy within an organization. SEVEN Server Edition integrates with pre-existing management tools, making user provisioning and routine administrative tasks quick and easy. Most installations take less than one hour and maintenance and provisioning upgrades are provided over the air.
  • Low Total Cost of Ownership: Delivered as an easy to deploy, complexity-free service from within the operator network, SEVEN powered solutions are significantly less expensive than competing proprietary services.
  • Enterprise-Class Security: SEVEN's security features include end-to-end encryption, remote removal of data from mobile devices, and the extension of enterprise security policy to mobile devices. SEVEN uses128-bit AES encryption - the U.S government FIPS-certified replacement for Triple DES - and digital signature algorithms to ensure secure connections.
  • Broad and Flexible Device and Data Support: SEVEN is the industry's most comprehensive mobile data solution, offering businesses and consumers the greatest flexibility in deploying mobile email. SEVEN's software is compatible with the broadest set of devices and platforms, including: J2ME and BREW enabled phones; Palm, Pocket PC, Symbian and Microsoft Smartphone 2003 smart devices; and browser-enabled PDAs and PCs. SEVEN's software provides access to Lotus Domino, Microsoft Exchange, IMAP and POP3 email, calendar, personal contacts, corporate directories, network drives and desktop documents. No other mobile email supplier offers this level of choice.

"We appreciate Frost and Sullivan's recognition. SEVEN is focused on providing businesses with inexpensive and easy-to-use mobile email services that leverage existing messaging infrastructure," said Bill Nguyen, SEVEN's founder and co-CEO. "By reducing the high cost and complexity of mobile office deployments, SEVEN offers businesses of all sizes and workers across organizations the benefits of secure email on the go."

This Frost & Sullivan Award is based on competitor revenue and market share within the industry, extensive secondary research of proprietary data and interviews with all market participants, including mobile communications vendors, service providers and end users. Companies are critically judged on diligence, perseverance and dedication required to develop a successful business plan and excel in the increasingly competitive global marketplace. Based on Frost & Sullivan's research, competitors are then compared and ranked.
