Scottsdale, AZ (January 15, 2004) - SEVEN Networks, Inc., a leader in Out of Office mobile technologies, announced today that Frost & Sullivan has named Bill Nguyen of SEVEN as the Mobile Communications CEO of the Year. This award is bestowed upon the CEO who has exhibited outstanding leadership and demonstrated innovative thinking in their market. Nguyen was identified among hundreds of chief executives in the mobile communications space, all of whom were measured based on their vision, successful and strategic risk-taking, management, and product and company positioning. Nguyen received the award last evening at Frost & Sullivan's 2004 Excellence in Information and Communication Technology Awards Banquet.
Demonstrating Leadership and
Vision
Since SEVEN's inception in 2000, Nguyen has built
one of the fastest growing companies in the mobile
communications space. Under Nguyen's leadership,
SEVEN developed a new and unique approach to delivering
mobile email services. The company's software was
built as an integral component to mobile operator networks,
in contrast to alternative approaches that focus on
proprietary systems installed at the enterprise. This
innovative, network driven approach enables SEVEN's
customers to bring new, branded data services to its
customers at savings of up to nearly 70%.
In nearly four years, SEVEN has commercially deployed mobile email services at seven of the world's top twenty mobile operators worldwide. In Q4 2003, SEVEN announced a partnership with NEC to bring services to NTT DoCoMo and KDDI -- two of the world's largest mobile operators. SEVEN also partners with O2 and Orange in Europe, Cingular Wireless and Sprint PCS in North American, and the SingTel Group in Asia Pacific. SEVEN is the only company in its space to serve the four most important data markets.
"With the focus on affordable and user-friendly access to mobile office applications, it is no surprise that in less than four years under Nguyen, SEVEN has achieved successful commercial deployments with many of the world's largest mobile operators," notes Brent Iadarola, industry analyst with Frost & Sullivan.
Driving The Mobile Data Market
As a result of Nguyen's leadership and the team he
has built, the company's software -- available as
Personal Edition, Enterprise Edition and Server Edition --
has seen 50% growth since Q3 2003. In North America, this
expansion is largely due to SEVEN's support for
newly launched, award-winning smart phones such as the Treo
600 and Pocket PC devices. SEVEN's software works
across the broadest set of devices and platforms,
including: J2ME, BREW and browser-enabled phones; Palm OS,
Pocket PC, Symbian and Microsoft Smartphone 2003 smart
devices; and browser-enabled PDAs and PCs. No other
supplier of mobile email offers this level of choice.
"SEVEN's close integration with the mobile operators and device manufacturers is the differentiated and key strategic part of our business," said Nguyen. "Much of our success over the last few years has been contingent upon signing and growing these relationships."
