Moscow, Russia and Redwood City, Calif., USA - (September 27, 2005) - SEVEN and VimpelCom, a leading provider of telecommunications services in Russia, today announced they have launched the first push email solution available in Russia. Mobile Email, powered by SEVEN, extends access to Microsoft Outlook and Lotus Notes to mobile devices. The service, launched on September 1, 2005, delivers email, attachments and calendar information to PDAs and smartphones in real-time, while simultaneously mirroring all changes to the corporate server.
Offering users a choice for selecting their preferred mobile device, Mobile Email can be accessed on a wide range of mobile devices including Pocket PC, Microsoft Smartphone and Symbian devices.
Additionally, Mobile Email can be quickly deployed by an enterprise without the need to change corporate systems, networks, or firewalls. With the Vimpelcom solution, the total cost of ownership is kept to a minimum.
"The demand for mobile services in Russia has grown increasingly over the last few years making Russia one of the fastest growing wireless markets in the world. Beeline, our brand name for VimpelCom's business and consumer wireless services, now has more than 30 million subscribers spanning both Russia and Kazakhstan. Our challenge is to continue to grow our market share while increasing revenues earned from each subscriber. We're going to achieve this by differentiating ourselves through unparalleled customer service and offerings that guarantee benefits for our customers. Mobile Email, powered by SEVEN, is such an offering. The ability to provide secure push email to enterprises in Russia, for the first time, will help us to increase customer retentions rates and extend the 35 percent market share we already have," said Jere C. Calmes, VimpelCom's Executive Vice-president.
"The market opportunity for push email in Russia and neighbouring countries is massive. The introduction of economic reforms has changed the way businesses operate. Businesses are expected to be more responsive to partners and customers and this can be difficult when away from the office or working across time zones - Russia alone has 11! SEVEN extends the office, enabling emails and calendar requests to be accessible from anywhere at anytime, increasing business efficiency at very little cost. The demand for push email in the US and Europe is huge, and we expect growth in Russia and Asia to follow suit this year," said Paul Hedman, Managing Director, SEVEN EMEA and APAC.
