SEVEN Open Channel Recognized by Frost & Sullivan for Innovation in Mobile Traffic Optimization

REDWOOD CITY, California June 6th, 2011 SEVEN® Networks, a provider of innovative mobile solutions that deliver a Real Life, Real Time experience, announced that it has been recognized by the Frost & Sullivan 2011 North America New Product Innovation Award in Mobile Traffic Optimization for its accomplishments with its Open Channel™ solution.

Frost & Sullivan's New Product Innovation Award is presented to the company that has excelled in the following criteria: innovative element of the product, leverage leading–edge technologies in product, value–added features/benefits, increased customer return on investment (ROI) and customer acquisition/penetration potential.

SEVEN’s Open Channel traffic optimization solution works by monitoring all requests for data made by mobile apps and only connecting to the network if new updates are available. By eliminating unnecessary requests it can reduce the time a smartphone or tablet is on the network by 40 percent without impacting the user experience, resulting in a data traffic reduction of up to 70 percent and an increase in battery life by up to 25 percent without application or network changes.

"Optimization within the mobile ecosystem has seen a siloed approach with solutions developed to improve either end–user behavior, application or device performance, and increase of bandwidth," said Charanya Balasubramanian, research analyst at Frost & Sullivan. "However, SEVEN’s approach is unique in that it tackles the optimization problem from end–to–end, from the user and device to the network and the application."

Open Channel is transparent to apps and requires no changes or special integration by mobile developers. It also requires no changes to the network and can work in conjunction with new standards for fast network dormancy, smart signaling and other network optimizations, further enhancing the value and longevity of these investments.

"We are extremely pleased at the early success our Open Channel solution has achieved and it is truly an honor to be recognized by Frost & Sullivan," said Michael Luna, SEVEN chief technical officer. "This award is further testament to our commitment to innovation aimed at bettering the mobile user experience."
